On October 1, the classrooms of State Technical University of Gomel were filled with bright colors and warm smiles. One of the most significant dates for a billion people was celebrated here the Day of the Formation of the People's Republic of China.

The official name of the holiday hides an interesting story. Beijing, 1949. From the rostrum above the gates of Heavenly tranquility, the voice of Mao Zedong proclaims the birth of a new China. This scene, known to every schoolboy in China, has become the starting point for the modern Chinese nation, a nation that has made an incredible journey from an ancient empire to a world leader in just a few decades. And this holiday is not just a date on the calendar, but a symbol of unity, strength and a bright future, which Chinese people honor all over the world.

It was this warm, family atmosphere of a real international brotherhood that they tried to recreate within the walls of Gomel Polytechnic University. The festive event was attended not only by Chinese students, for whom this day is a part of their distant homeland, but also by their Belarusian classmates.

The evening ended with a truly sincere gesture. All participants of the celebration were presented with memorable gifts stylish mugs with the logo of the Sukhoi State Technical University. Now each of them has not just a souvenir, but a symbol of the common memory of the day when they were heartily congratulated on the holiday. Such moments prove more eloquently than any diplomatic missions that the strong friendship between Belarus and China is being built here and now, within the walls of universities, at joint lectures and over a cup of tea from a new mug that has become so expensive.
