Meeting of International Students with Representatives of the Gomel Migration and Border Service and the University Administration

On September 16, 2025, a meeting of international students with staff from the Gomel Citizenship and Migration Department, the Border Service, and the university administration was held at Sukhoi State Technical University.

The purpose of the meeting was to explain Belarusian legislation, prevent offenses and crimes among international students, and explain the reasons for which foreign citizens may be deported or expelled from the Republic of Belarus.

Participating in the event were: Deputy Head of the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, Police Lieutenant Colonel D.N. Romanchuk; Inspector of the group for work with foreign citizens and stateless persons of the OGiM Department of Internal Affairs of the Sovietsky District Administration of Gomel, Major O.S. Laz; Senior Officer of the Investigation Department, Major A.L. Volkov; Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs G.V. Petrishin; Head of the International Relations Department N.L. Zhuravskaya; as well as specialists from the Compulsory Medical Insurance Department, the Department of Employment and Migration, and the Department of Employment and Migration.

The meeting discussed key legal norms governing the stay of foreign citizens in the Republic of Belarus, their rights and obligations, visa and migration regulations, and an explanation of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On the State Border of the Republic of Belarus." Particular attention was paid to administrative and criminal offenses and the possible consequences of violating migration laws, such as fines, deportation, and revocation of temporary residence permits.

An important topic of the meeting was the discussion of violations committed by foreign students in Gomel, as well as an explanation of the legal penalties for these violations.
To ensure proper understanding of the issues discussed, the International Relations Department and the Citizenship and Migration Affairs Department provided translation into English and Arabic.
