Summer School in China: Experiences and New Opportunities
Anna Sinyakova, fourth-year student, Faculty of Humanities and Economics:
I learned about the opportunity to participate in the summer school in the final days of the application process. It was all the more surprising to learn that I successfully passed the interview and received an invitation.
Before the trip, I had found virtually no information about Baotou, so I had no idea how things would go. Initially, upon arriving in Beijing, China surprised me with its rushed pace, but once we reached Baotou, the fast pace slowed down, and a completely new side of the country began to unfold.
After the summer school's opening ceremony, we began taking various tours. A tour of the university's grounds impressed us with the campus's size and infrastructure. Visiting various facilities designed to green the desert, purify water, and research agricultural and other crops helped us understand the seriousness of environmental issues, the importance of finding solutions, and the importance of international cooperation. We were also shown how artificial intelligence and modern technologies can help optimize production processes, using the example of the Baotou Group dairy farm.
Every day of the summer school after the educational portion of the program was filled with classes and activities that allowed me to interact with students from other countries and learn more about their cultures. I was placed with girls from Mongolia, which allowed us to interact beyond the mandatory program and discuss environmental issues in our countries and how we address them.
The atmosphere was very pleasant and welcoming throughout. I'm very happy that the summer school gave me the opportunity to meet new people from all over the world; it was an unforgettable experience. My only regret about the summer school is that it ended so quickly, leaving me with no time to bond even more with the other students.
For me, the summer school was a very important stage of my education because it allowed me to rethink certain aspects of life and understand another culture. I was delighted that we were greeted with the utmost warmth and hospitality, and everyone tried to help us with any difficulties that arose. I was also delighted to meet someone who had studied in my department and who, even after work, was happy to show us and tell us more about China.
I was also glad that we had someone with us who spoke Russian and was able to help us when we misunderstood something and coordinate our efforts. In conclusion, I'd like to once again express my sincere gratitude for this opportunity to the administration of both universities and to the teachers who participated in the summer school and made this project possible.
Ivan Litvinov, fourth-year student, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Technology:
During these few days of participating in the summer school at Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology (Baotou), I gained not only valuable knowledge but also important practical skills that will definitely be useful in the future.
The school program was incredibly rich and diverse. Lectures by leading university professors allowed me to deepen my understanding of international relations, engineering technology, and Chinese language and culture. The practical sessions, where we analyzed real-life cases and worked on projects in international teams, were especially helpful.
