GSTU Hosts Foreign Delegation: Prospects for Cooperation with Morocco
In line with the directives of the Government of the Republic of Belarus to expand its international presence and promote educational services in “distant arc” countries,Sukhoi State Technical University hosted an official visit from a delegation of the Kingdom of Morocco from May 30 to June 4, 2025.
The Belarusian delegation included Rector A.V. Putsiata, First Vice-Rector D.G. Krol, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs G.V. Petrishin, Vice-Rector for Security, Regulations, and Personnel A.A. Svetochny, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Technology I.B. Odarchenko, Dean of the Humanities and Economics Faculty M.N. Andriyanchikova, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering M.G. Gegedesh, and Head of the International Relations Department N.L. Zhuravskaya.
The Moroccan delegation was represented by Hassan Zghari, founder of the private school complex Groupe Scolaire ZGHARI PRIVE and a mathematics instructor; Mohamed Malaman, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics, and Social Sciences at Hassan II University of Casablanca; and Taufik Bunetta, a translator from Belarusian State University of Transport.
The guests from Morocco participated in a rich program, including a city tour of Gomel, visits to 'Spartak' and its official store, meetings with GSTU leadership to discuss joint educational and scientific projects, introductions to faculty laboratories, student dormitory visits, and excursions to MIRTEK Engineering and the International Business Academy "Belorusneft" in Rechitsa.
Key Agreements Reached:
- Organization of short-term internships for students and faculty of both countries.
- Possible opening of a Moroccan language and culture class at GSTU.
- Attraction of Moroccan students to study at the university.
- Development of online courses conducted by Belarusian professors for Moroccan students.
- Discussion of signing a cooperation agreement between universities.
- Strengthening educational ties to foster international academic partnerships.
The visit marked a significant step toward expanding scientific and educational collaboration between Belarus and Morocco, opening new opportunities for students and faculty from both nations.
