The Republic of Belarus proudly welcomes people from all corners of the world. This inclusivity is reflected in Gomel State Technical University (GSTU), where students from diverse backgrounds—including many from across the African continent—pursue their education.

Every year on May 25, Africa celebrates Africa Day, also known as African Freedom Day, marking the anniversary of the Organization of African Unity’s (OAU) foundation in Addis Ababa in 1963 by 30 African leaders. This significant date symbolizes the continent’s aspiration for unity, independent development, peace, and prosperity.

A Night of Friendship and Cultural Exchange In honor of Africa Day, on May 26, 2025, GSTU hosted an International Evening of Friendship, celebrating diversity, creativity, and borderless unity. The student café transformed into a vibrant stage for self-expression and cultural exchange. Students had the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in African heritage, showcase their talents, and connect with new friends—all while staying within their own university dormitory.

The evening unfolded as a creative competition, where—naturally—friendship emerged victorious!
