The Mentality of Slavs and Integration Processes: History, Present, and Prospects
May 15–16, 2025, Gomel State Technical University hosted the fourteenth international scientific conference "The Mentality of Slavs and Integration Processes: History, Present, and Prospects," dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the great victory.
The event was organized and conducted with the participation of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Committee for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, the Gomel Diocese of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, the Gomel Regional Branch of the "Belaya Rus" Party, Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod, and Gomel State Technical University. Philosophers, sociologists, historians, political scientists, legal experts, economists, and psychologists from Russia, Belarus, and Poland took part in the conference, including 10 Doctors of Science and 42 Candidates of Science.
Belarus was represented by the cities of Minsk, Mogilev, Gomel, and Mozyr, while Russia was represented by Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Tyumen, Kursk, Tula, Smolensk, Volgograd, and Yekaterinburg.
This year, the conference was held in a hybrid format (in-person, remote, and asynchronous participation). Egorova Thematic Sections and Discussions The issues raised in the plenary session were further explored in sectional discussions: • "Socio-Cultural, Economic, and Legal Aspects of Integration Processes" This section focused on the unity and diversity of the legal traditions of Slavic nations, their historical roots, and modern integration challenges. • "Global and National Trends in the Development of Sectoral Economies" Presenters discussed Belarus’s participation in integration processes at various levels, as well as the state and development trends of sectoral economies. • "Spirituality in Modern Society: Traditions, Present, and Prospects for Development"
This section emphasized preserving historical memory of events from World War II and the Great Patriotic War within the Commonwealth of Independent States. At the closing plenary session, the conference results were summarized, and prospects for further collaboration between scholars from Russia and Belarus were discussed. The conference proceedings will be published in a collection of scientific works.
