Meeting "The Home We Live In" with International Students Residing in the Dormitory

Working with international students requires a special approach, as they face various unique challenges such as language barriers, cultural differences, and adaptation to a new educational system. To support their successful sociocultural integration at Sukhoi State Technical University, a series of events has been planned. One of these was a meeting held at Dormitory No. 1, where pre-university preparatory students from the Kingdom of Morocco reside. The goal of the meeting was to create a more welcoming atmosphere, improve mutual understanding, and identify potential issues requiring attention.

Compliance with the Dormitory Rules is an essential aspect of international students’ lives, which contributes to the creation of a comfortable and safe environment. The rules discussed included maintaining proper sanitary conditions in living spaces and nearby areas, as well as respecting quiet hours. The first question asked was: "What are your thoughts on the rules regarding cleanliness and quietness?" By the end of the discussion, it was concluded that students should uphold cleanliness in their rooms and communal areas through regular cleaning, waste disposal, and hygiene practices. Silence and respect for neighbors: maintaining silence in the evening and at night, respect for the personal space of neighbors (especially during exams and classes) are also necessary to improve a friendly atmosphere and prevent conflicts.

One of the most important issues was also discussed - compliance with fire safety rules, on which the life and health of people living and working in the dormitory depend. Compliance with the procedure for using electrical appliances: you cannot use high-power devices without permission, use electric stoves in living areas, or render autonomous fire detectors unusable. The meeting with foreign students provided an opportunity to discuss problems and find solutions to improve living conditions.
