Foreign students of the Polytechnic were reminded of the need to comply with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus

December 19 at the Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel, an unusual meeting was held that united students who came to Belarus to receive an engineering education. Rules for being in the border zone, the importance of complying with the laws of the Republic of Belarus — these and other issues were discussed by students with Captain of Police I.M. Kononovich, Inspector of the Group for Work with Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons of the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Administration of the Sovetsky District, Gomel, and Captain A.L. Volkov, Senior Officer of the 2nd Division of the 3rd Directorate of Military Unit 1242.

Addressing the event participants, I.M. Kononovich noted: “Each of us is part of a larger society, and compliance with the laws and rules of living in a dormitory not only protects you, but also creates a comfortable environment for everyone. Take care of your property and respect the rules that help us live in harmony.” Students actively asked questions about visas, registration nuances, the consequences of careless handling of an expired residence permit and other aspects of life in a new country and received comprehensive answers to them.

Volkov A.L. shared important information about the rules for staying in the border zone with students. The senior officer noted: “The border zone is not just a geographical concept, it is an area where you need to be especially careful. Understanding the rules for staying in the border zone is not just a matter of safety, but your responsibility! Know your rights and responsibilities so you don’t end up in an unpleasant situation.”

The meeting, attended by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs G.V. Petrishin, Head of the International Relations Department N.L. Zhuravskaya, as well as specialists from the Department of International Relations, the Department of Pre-University Training and Career Guidance, and the Department for Ideological and Educational Work, provided an excellent opportunity for students to learn more about safety and responsibility, as well as to broaden their horizons.
