On the basis of the university, together with OJSC StankoGomel, the II International Scientific and Practical Conference “Innovative Machine Tool Building, Technologies and Tools” started. The starting point for the creation of this authoritative platform for discussing interaction and searching for innovative approaches was the signing in July 2023 in Yekaterinburg of the Agreement between the governments of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on cooperation in the development of the machine tool industry.

With the support of the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the State Committee on Science and Technology, the 1st scientific and practical conference “Innovative machine tool building, technologies and tools” was organized in November last year, which became a place for discussing problematic issues, tasks and finding solutions in the field of machine tool building and tools, interaction and searching for innovative approaches.
This year, the first rector of the Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus, Honored Inventor of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor A.S. Shahinyan would have turned 90 years old. In this regard, the II scientific and practical conference “Innovative machine tool building, technologies and tools” was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Albert Semenovich Shaginyan.
The II International Scientific and Practical Conference “Innovative Machine Tool Building, Technologies and Tools” brought together more than 100 participants from more than 60 enterprises and industrial organizations, academic institutes and universities of Belarus, Russia, and China.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry - consultant of the department of machine tool industry of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus Elena Aleksandrovna Kononova, Gomel City Executive Committee - head of the economics department of the city executive committee Olga Anatolyevna Kalacheva, Deputy General Director of MTZ OJSC for managing enterprises of the MTZ-HOLDING holding - Vladimir Alekseevich Karpyak, as well as managers and representatives of leading enterprises in the industry. Olga Anatolyevna noted: “Gomel has become a living example of how education, science and production form an inextricable system that positively influences the development of the economy of our regions and countries.”
The director of the StankoGomel OJSC plant, Anatoly Nikolaevich Savenok, made a report “Sanctions - a problem or new opportunities”, outlining the main directions of the conference and the tasks for solving them.
More than 70 reports were presented at the conference. There were two sections: “Automation of design and production, mechatronics, hardware and software automation tools, metal-cutting machines and tools” and “Modern materials in mechanical engineering”.
