On November 14, the VI International Scientific Conference “Problems of the interaction of radiation with matter,” dedicated to Bokut B.V., was held at the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University on the basis of the Faculty of Physics and Information Technologies.
At the plenary session, the head of the department of “Physics and Electrical Engineering” of the Sukhoi State Technical University, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Pyotr Anatolyevich Hilo spoke with a report “Acousto-optical diffraction of an annular beam by ultrasound in TeO2 and NaBi(MoO4)2 crystals.”
Petr Anatolyevich noted that Bokut B.V. was a man of high culture, a great scholar and not only in physics. He was characterized by the absence of petty supervision; he provided the student with complete independence. He valued his students’ ideas most of all and enjoyed discussing their results.

Boris Vasilyevich Bokut is an outstanding Belarusian physicist and organizer of science, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR, rector of Gomel State University (1973–1989), laureate of the USSR State Prize, author of more than 200 scientific works, including 3 monographs and 20 inventions.

The plenary session ended with a ceremony of laying flowers at the memorial plaque with a bas-relief of Bokut B.V.
