Interactive lesson with foreign students
Foreign students coming to study in the Republic of Belarus must adapt not only to the university, like Belarusian students, not only to the peculiarities of living in a dormitory, but also to life in another country: its culture, traditions, the existing generally accepted system of norms and values. Therefore, helping foreign students adapt to a new educational and cultural environment is an important task for universities.
In this regard, on March 29, 2024, in the student cafe of the hostel No. 1 of the Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel, specialists of the department of educational work with youth held a lesson with the aim of identifying negative and positive factors influencing the psychological state of foreign students, establishing conflict-free interaction between the university and hostel staff.
Educational psychologist Irina Rubanovich conducted a survey to study the level of satisfaction with living in the dormitory, issues of organizing leisure time, visiting the football section were discussed. Elsherbini Salah Mohamed Elsayed helped a newly arrived student of the pre-university training and career guidance department from Sierra Leone translate the questionnaire into English.
The lesson included exercises to help foreign students acquire skills that can be used in real life. The children worked together to find solutions to various issues related to organizing the work of volunteers, support groups, and participation in the concert program of the Open Creative Festival of Friendship, which will be held at the Polytechnic on April 18.
The meeting program contributed to the creation of a friendly atmosphere and enrichment of cultural horizons. Foreign students actively applied their Russian speaking skills, overcoming the language barrier and expanding their vocabulary.
