September 17 - National Unity Day

On September 17, Belarus celebrates National Unity Day for the third time. This holiday was established on June 7, 2021 by decree of Alexander Lukashenko. 84 years ago, on September 17, 1939, the unification of eastern and western Belarus, divided in 1921 under the terms of the Riga Peace Treaty, began. Today, much attention is paid to those distant events that became turning points in the history of the country.

The central square featured locations with different national flavors. Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel presented the exhibition “Rhythms of Africa”. “We represent the African continent, because our university has students from Congo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gambia, Egypt and other countries,” shared educational psychologist Irina Mikhailovna Rubanovich. — Our location contains objects of African applied art, national clothing with animal prints. You can also try African cuisine and learn their recipes; We invite you to try on an ethnic African skirt and belt, and also paint real papyrus.” Incendiary dances in national costumes with bright ornaments were performed by foreign students of the university.
