Life-Long Learning Institute participation in SEFI-2020 conference

Annual international engineering conference SEFI took place 20 – 24 September, 2020 at the University of Twente (UT) in Netherlands.

The team of Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel expresses gratitude and appreciation to Vice-Rector of the University of Cadiz Carlos Rioja del Rio for the opportunity to participate  in SEFI-2020 conference.

The Republic of Belarus was represented by  Yury N. Kalesnik (The Head of Lifelong Learning Institute at Sukhoi State Techincal University of Gomel) and Eduard V. Pavlysh (Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov) with their report “Presentation of elements and presentation of contents for the SEFI curriculum development SIG in Belarus”

Yury N. Kalesnik and  Eduard V. Pavlysh presented innovative approaches to the design of the educational program  and to the development of a new engineering distance course “Household Energy Saving”. These approaches were studied in European universities - Rezekne Academy of Technologies(Latvia), The Open University (The UK), University of Cadiz (Spain), Linnaeus University (Sweden) within the  international project of European Union ERASMUS+ BELL “Enhancement of Lifelong Learning in Belarus” and then used in  the course development in order to make complex engineering material simple, interesting and digestible, targeted at a wide audience.

Course participants were highly interested in such interactive tools as Kahoot!, H5P, LearningApps. These tools were presented to the professors of Belarusian universities, which are the members of  project consortium ERASMUS+ BELL, during the internship at the University of Cadiz (Spain).

The SEFI Conference is an annual scientific conference about technical and engineering education. This year, the main topic of the conference was the use of information technologies to improve the educational process and curriculum. About 400 researchers and teachers from all over Europe take part in the conference every year.

For Belarusian partners, participation in the conference became possible thanks to the proposal of foreign colleagues from the University of Cadiz and personally Vice-Rector Carlos Rioja del Rio, who oversaw the section of the conference on the development of curricula using interactive technologies.
