The GSTU Specialists are starting the implementation of the project “THEOREMS - Dnipro” within the framework of the Territorial Cooperation Program “Belarus-Ukraine”.
On November 27, 2017 the solemn ceremony of signing the Grant Agreements for the financing of joint projects within the framework of the first Territorial Cooperation Program “Belarus-Ukraine”.
The participants of the 18 joint projects selected out of 148 applications met in Kiev to take part in the ceremony organized by the Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation (EaPTC) Support Program together with the representatives of the Administration of German Society for International Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Germany).
Yanis Aizsalnieks, Coordinator of the Sector for Local Development of the EU Representation in Ukraine: «This program is a brand new one and it is not based on the previous experience. We are proud of the fact that we helped to unite the efforts on the both sides of Belarusian-Ukrainian border».
Dzina Hancharova, Director of the European Union Center for International Technical Assistance in Belarus: “Signing of the grant agreements on the Territorial Cooperation Program “Belarus-Ukraine” is the historically significant event that we have finally witnessed”.
Sabine Muller, Regional Director of GIZ for Belarus and Ukraine: “Since this program is in a testing regime, many things will depend upon the results of these 18 Belarusian-Ukrainian projects selected and upon the possibility of the development of this experience in the future.“
The topics of the 18 projects selected are connected with the three basic priorities of the Territorial Cooperation Program “Belarus-Ukraine”: improving the life of local societies; solving the ecological problems, employment problems, healthcare problems and other issues that are actual for border regions; support of the cultural, educational and sports initiatives in Belarus and Ukraine.
It is very pleasant to note that among the proposals approved for financing there was also the project proposed besides other partner organizations by the Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel - «Transboundary HydrometEORological and Environmental Monitoring System of Dnipro river» (THEOREMS-Dnipro).
